Photo of the Day: This is a statue in the city center and the light was shining on it beautifully. Other than that it was a standard day of class, homework, commuting, and hanging out with my host family.
Observation of the Day: The Canary Islands are to Sweden as Florida is to the US. Everyone travels there and many people retire there. It is also very touristy.

Actually, the Canary Islands are to all of Europe of what Florida is to the USA! We’ve been there ourselves, to the island of Lanzarote. Must drive the Spaniards mad, all of these different nationalities invading their islands year round. But it’s their bread-and-butter. Trivia note: Teide, on the Canary island of Tenerife, is the highest mountain in Spain (though out on an island), and from it’s base, the 3rd highest volcano in the world.
